What’s up in Iowisota

We will eventually have a blog, but it might be a few weeks before Linda masters the nuances of website development and can get one going! Right now we are busy finishing off the construction of the house and guest spaces. Once the dust settles, perhaps we will have a weekly post with what’s going on in Iowisota. Not ready to commit to that yet!

October 6, 2023

It has been a busy month since I started trying to set up the website! I failed for several weeks… apparently my url wasn’t directed to the right nameserver… who knew about such stuff?! Anyhow, maybe it will be working soon, so I should have some CONTENT for people to look at! I have been busy getting the guest bedrooms and bathrooms completed and functional. The news flash is that we have 3 guest bedrooms that are functionally operational now… with beds, window shades, dressers/nightstands. And both guest bathrooms are functional now too. So in theory, people can come see us now! Some level of chaos is still prevalent, but none-the-less, the place is beautiful. It has been a very dry summer, but we finally got a week of rain (4 to 6 inches!) before the sky closed up again (it has barely rained again for over a week). It is still dry, but the rain brought out some of the fall mushrooms, so I had to go to the woods to see what I could find. Chicken of the woods, puffballs, shaggy manes, resinous polypore, aborted entoloma, golden oysters, Ganoderma (artist’s conk), Trametes (turkey tail), Stereum, and miscellaneous others… Fun! I even cooked up a few of the types, but I’m a very cautious wild mushroom eater. Eventually I’ll prepare and post a photo album!
